are you ok? there are different people in my train car this morning, but i didn't move.

also, i don't think chainsaw has a future as a stylist.

[attached is a selfie of 2/3 of gansey's head and chainsaw on his shoulder. she's groomed his hair into an utter disaster on top and is continuing her art on the side of the shoulder she's sitting on. gansey looks lovingly exasperated, and chainsaw seems quite pleased with herself.]

[Noah doesn't respond right away - he got on the train last after some argument with Ronan on that, being in the farthest car back, and promptly passed out almost as soon as he got in. As if his hangover the previous morning hadn't been bad enough.]

be nice, she couldn't exactly practice on ronan

I'm still in the same car but I think there are new people in mine too.

[some argument is, in fact, exactly why gansey has chainsaw. ronan's beloved bird was the only reason he didn't go after the rest of them to make sure they got on safely.]

maybe she'll improve between now and the next stop.

this just gets weirder and weirder.

[Well, Chainsaw is much smaller than all of them, her lungs are much tinier so she'd need to be out of that gas as soon as possible.

Also it was how they needed to keep Gansey safely in his car. Noah thinks it was very clever on Ronan's part.]

[gansey also gives ronan points for very clever manipulation, but he's not in love with the part where it seems they've decided he's made of glass. it has not yet occurred to him that the other three depend on his continued safety for their continued sanity, just that he's being babied.]

yeah. once chainsaw stopped freaking out enough that i could unwrap her i guess i slept off whatever that gas was.

but i don't like this. how did people get moved? what the hell happened back there? couldn't they have just asked us to get back on the train? not like there was anywhere else to go.

I don't think it was them. That is, the them that are running the train.

so you think that message Duck found was from a third party? that could make sense.

If there's some power of old gods at stake, wouldn't it make sense for there to be more than one group involved? Considering how many people were after the ley line...

I thought the idea was to keep the gods quiet with sacrifices, like dittley. But if someone wants them sleeping someone else is going to want them awake.

we are so unprepared to be in the middle of that argument.

Yeah. I kinda hope it continues to stay out of our hands.

wouldn't that be nice. We haven't had much in the way of choice so far.

If you keep gods sleeping with blood sacrifice, I wonder how you wake them up.

that's creepy. I don't want to think about that. I'm gonna get nightmares.

but they were nice ones. you're warm when you're sleeping.

I thought there was a chance you would diplomatically play it down, which would have been okay.

[there's a fair pause before gansey replies. he's kind of hurt and can't really pinpoint why, because his feelings for blue are reason enough to think he'd do that, not to mention the thing where he seems to be responsible for the balance of the group of them, any hint of bias setting the whole thing wobbling.

so he waits to answer until he's whittled the weird stab of hurt into a tiny splinter of ache to puzzle through later.]

Fair, I guess. Diplomatically playing things down is something I do. A lot.

It's okay to need to touch someone or to be touched and then regret it later. It doesn't make you a bad person. The same goes for not regretting it.

I don't regret it. I regret the hangover a little bit.
